Glow All Year: Tips for Seasonal Skincare and Makeup, Spring Edition

As the days begin to get longer,  spring is when the natural world around us revives and rejuvenates after a cold, dark winter. So like nature, it's time to refresh our skincare and makeup routines to match the season. Spring brings a sense of renewal, so what better way to embrace this than by giving your skin a fresh start? In this blog post, we'll explore some tips and tricks to help you achieve that gorgeous springtime glow inside and out.

  • Hydration is Key: As the weather starts to warm up, our skin may require extra hydration to combat the drying effects of skin spent indoors after a long winter, along with increased sun exposure and outdoor activities. Opt for lightweight, hydrating formulas that won't clog pores but will provide ample moisture to keep your skin supple and dewy. Our Rosé: Rose Water Face Mist will infuse your skin with balancing, brightening, and calming plant extracts. Rose Otto water is renowned for its soothing and hydrating superpowers, along with Glycerin to give your skin a dewy finish and that on-trend glass-like look.  Incorporating a hydrating serum such as Crimson Beauty or a facial oil like Moonlight Nectar into your routine can also work wonders for maintaining a healthy glow. Our Ultimate Hydration Set (which contains these products)  is perfect for restoring your skin to its healthy balance at this time of year.

  • Don't Skimp on SPF: With longer days and more time spent outdoors,  protect your skin from the sun's rays. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and apply it generously to all exposed areas of skin, including your face, neck, and hands. Remember to reapply throughout the day, especially if you're sweating or swimming. For an SPF that primes and smoothes giving you a hydrated airbrush finish we love ‘Everyday Humans: SPF 35 Rose From Above Mineral Sunscreen Base’ (available on Naturismo) great when used under makeup.

  • Lighten Up Your Makeup: Spring is the perfect time to embrace a fresh-faced makeup look. Hydration is key here, so focus on prepping your skin well before makeup application, followed by a light coverage. We love to add a few drops of our Glow Illuminator to our moisturiser to give that subtle dewy glow. Swap out heavy foundations for lighter, tinted moisturisers or BB creams that provide that lightweight coverage, or use a concealer as your foundation where needed and blend to let your natural skin tone shine through and allow it to breathe, set with Rose’ to give your makeup that dewy spring-like look - you can spritz Rose’ throughout the day to keep your skin ultra-hydrated. Opt for soft shades on the eyes and cheeks to complement the season, and add a pop of colour with lipstick or lip gloss. We love Ilia Beauty lipsticks for their beautiful natural & organic range of shades and hydrating formulas.

  • Exfoliate Regularly: Shed your winter skin and reveal a brighter complexion by incorporating regular exfoliation into your skincare routine. Gentle exfoliants help slough away dead skin cells, unclog pores, and promote cell turnover, leaving your skin looking smoother and more radiant. Violet: Resurfacing Mask gently exfoliates, brightens, and hydrates even the most sensitive skin types when used once or twice a week or as a treatment cleanser.

  • Eat Your Way to Radiant Skin: Remember, skincare isn't just about what you put on your skin—it's also about what you put into your body. Load up on fresh fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which help nourish your skin from the inside out. Drinking plenty of water is essential for maintaining hydration and promoting a healthy, glowing complexion.

Spring is all about embracing a lighter, more effortless approach to beauty. Let your natural beauty and skin shine through by opting for minimal makeup looks that enhance your skin’s natural radiance rather than masking your features. By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your skin is ready to glow all year round, starting with the arrival of light and airy spring.
